Bella Abzug was born in 1920 in Bronx, New York to two Russian Jewish immigrant parents. She had been stong-willed since birth, often described as "born yelling". Being so outspoken allowed her to make her voice heard and is what made her such a powerful congresswomen. She was more than ready to speak her mind on the injustices she saw in the world, including gender inequality.
